DISASTER

On July 18, 2016, a sudden and violent downburst of wind lifted the roof off of Sonshine Christian Academy’s school and gymnasium. The interior of the building then began flooding as the insulation peeled off the top of the building and dangerous debris was scattered across the parking lot. Not only was the school severely damaged, but teachers were scheduled to report within 15 days for the start of the school year. GC3 was ready to help with recovery.

RECOVERY

The day that Sonshine signed on with GC3, we began the building dry down process to pave the way for quick temporary repairs. Then, a scope of loss was developed and approved by the insurance company and the school. This allowed our team to gather subcontractor bids quickly on all permanent repairs. Permanent repairs included an entirely new roofing system as well as a complete interior renovation due to water damage.

RESULT

Teachers returned to the building in 8 days, just after temporary repairs were made. The entire restoration project was completed in 103 days and the children returned to school without missing a single class. Faculty, parents and GC3 were ecstatic. We’re not sure the same can be said for the students.
