DISASTER

The Bakersfield Church of God of Prophecy sustained fire damage on July 21, 2001, as a result of an arsonist. Major fire and smoke damage impacted the sanctuary and the offices. While the congregation reeled at the senseless criminal act, members of the GC3 team arrived onsite the very next day to comfort and console the church community.

RECOVERY

Our first step in restoring the house of worship was to manage the mitigation process and develop a comprehensive scope of loss for the church and GuideOne Insurance. Then, we removed all interior finishes from the sanctuary and rebuilt and finished the glue-laminated beams. We were also able to save the roof structure and make repairs to the exterior of the building, which helped lower costs.

RESULT

Less than two months after the fire burned through the house of worship, the church received its certificate of occupancy. A formal rededication ceremony was held in September. That’s what the power of positive thinking (and a team of disaster recovery experts) can do.

“ Our project manager, Tom Stockdale, maintained a moving balance by creating a direct line of relationships between our church stuff, subcontractors and GC3.”
