Insurance Essentials for Adjusters

GC3, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and the Central Iowa Claims Association are partnering to offer hands-on training opportunities for insurance adjusters to help increase efficiency and effectiveness on the job.

Insurance Essentials for Adjusters are two-day workshops focusing on construction specifics, deconstruction considerations and commonly found situations found on a reconstruction site that will aid in evaluating property claims relating to the scope of loss and potential costs involving repair or replacement. Upon completion of a course, participants will receive a certificate from DMACC as well as CEC credit.


Covers concepts related to roofing systems in residential and light commercial construction. Lessons provide a general knowledge base and understanding of roofing systems, including roof types and materials, components, specifications and more.


Covers three key system issues that cause loss. Lessons provide a general knowledge base and understanding of the cost difference in various heating systems, signs of damage due to faulty heating systems, issues associated with lightening strikes how to identify reparability vs. replacement of basic HVAC systems and more.

Foundations and Framing

Covers concepts related to structural foundations and framing systems common in residential and light commercial construction. Lessons provide a general knowledge base and understanding of the types of foundation and foundation construction, framing from the foundation up and lab work.

Windows, Doors and Interior Finishes

Covers concepts related to door and window installation and replacement as well as interior finishes. Classroom and lab lessons cover window and door types and materials, drywall and interior surfaces, cabinets and more.
